established in 1800
The central house was built in 1800, making it one of the oldest homesteads along the North Shore. The house, known as “The Shack on the Hill”, was owned by several generations of the Luce family, one of the earliest immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard. Ship captains owned it in the 1800s before it was eventually purchased in the 1940s by an architect from New Jersey. He preserved and maintained the original footprint of the home and gradually stabilized and added on to it over the years. After another owner, my parents bought the place and did some extensive renovations, bringing it up to modern living standards (no longer the shack on the hill)!
Who We Are
We’re the Kenneys and we’re excited to be sharing our unique home with friends and visitors. My parents, both hard working veterinarians, summered on the Vineyard since the early 80s and eventually bought this house, embarking on a major renovation that took several years to complete. The house is filled with my mother’s original art who is a lifetime artist in addition to her career as a veterinarian.
